Matthew Young, Competition Coordinator
I am currently an undergraduate student in the Bachelor of Commerce MEIF program. I am in the pursuit of a CA designation here at Guelph. Having participated in the Junior Achievement program for three years I have grown to appreciate the struggle of the entrepreneurial spirit through holding Vice President positions and even being part of a company that won, “Junior Achievement Company of the Year”. I have also participated in DECA, I feel that future students will benefit from the knowledge gained from such experiences that just cannot be taught in a standard class format. I hope to help students in their academic studies as well as foster a level of learning outside the classroom that will lead to the growth of Guelph as a prominent business school.
Tyler Velland, Director of Education
My name is Tyler Vellend and I am the Director of Education. This is my first year with the ASG and I am excited to work closely with the Professors to bring the students of Guelph the highest quality in tutoring and review sessions throughout the year. I was previously the Senior CA Ambassador on campus and I am looking to get my CA designation in the future. I look forward to organizing review and tutoring sessions for all students to benefit from this coming year

I hope to raise the awareness and interest in the accounting profession and to alter the impression most people have towards accounting. Through the events and information meetings hosted by the ASG, we look forward to educating Guelph Commerce students on the importance of accounting in any field of business- and that it’s fun!
